Bernard (Bernie) Mussett

It is with deep sadness that I report that Bernie crossed the bar on the 2nd. of September 2017 in the UK as a result of a very aggressive prostate cancer.

I first met Bernie in 1971 when he was second mate on the Seaway Queen. We became very good friends. Bernie’s wife Brenda had health problems and they moved to the UK to be close to Brenda’s family. Bernie joined the British rail ferries running from the Isle of White to the Continent and soon was promoted to Master. We kept in touch over the years and Jan and I and two children stayed with the Mussett family in Yeoville in 1978. I have stayed with Bernie each time I visited the UK. He was a good host and a very good friend. Enjoyed a few beers at his local and loved a bet on the horses. R.I.P my friend.
